The Frank Art Gallery opened on April 27, 2017. It is a premier exhibition and learning space dedicated to creating a cultural climate to foster connections and community engagement. Contemporary artists, guest curators, performers, and thought leaders will converge to produce and share work essential to building an inclusive creative community.
A custom blended candle with notes of frankincense and bergamot has been created for The Frank Art gallery. The locally-made handcrafted candles delicately scent a room, and at the same time declare the significance of being frank. Artist and cultural interventionist Randy Burman was commissioned to source the "Sense" for Frank & Sense. Fervent Frank fans will want to purchase the four different exclamations that ignite conversation and induce contemplation. The word frankincense comes from the term "franc encens", which means "high-quality incense" in old French. Traditional healing suggests frankincense for anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties. Some Eastern cultures suggest burning frankincense to promote good health.
The handcrafted Frank Feedback Box positioned in the lobby of the gallery houses response cards that invite the public to share their opinions about what they value in the cultural arts. Questions probe what types of exhibitions and programming people are interested in seeing and participating in.
The frank feedback received will inform future events at the gallery. This honest exchange with the community helps us achieve our goal of fostering connections and creating social partnerships.
